Plenty to look forward to this weekend

Its going to be fascinating to see how the first ever Future Champions Day fares here at Newmarket on Saturday but with theDewhurst, the Middle Park and of course the Betfred Cesarewitch there should beplenty for everyone at Racings HQ.

Things have been a bit quiet at the Rowley Mile course thisautumn probably due to the change around in dates and fixtures following themoving of the Champion Stakes to the new Champions Day at Ascot next week.

Following the great atmosphere and the massive crowds at theJuly Course- Sir Tom Jones was incidentally the main attraction at the track-itwas always going to be difficult to go back to the Rowley Mile this autumn.However Saturdays menu looks very tasty and the crowds should come flockingback.

The weather like the majority of the country has been redhot for the past week and although some rain is forecast the Rowley mile trackis very well drained and I believe the going will be on the fast side onSaturday.

Richard Hannon is a man for whom I have the highest respect-a great trainer no doubt but also a nice guy to boot with a friendlyapproachable manner- and his sons and daughters are always very helpful.

Hes already stated that he thinks his BRONTERRE will run ahell of a race in the Dubai Dewhurst and after 2 runs and 2 wins and stableconfidence he has got to be on everyones short list.

Aiden Obrien always keeps us guessing- his POWER is in boththe Emaar Middle Park and the Dewhurst and would probably start favourite inwhichever race he goes for but also entered in both races is his less talkedabout stable companion NEPHRITE.

There was an awful lot to like about the way Nephritedemolished 23 rivals at the curragh last month on his racing debut and he couldbe anything!

I must mention John Gosdens FENCING who has been workingwell here at HQ and Andrew Baldings SPRITUAL STAR who impressed me immenselywith the manner of his victory last time out and he has been supplemented forthe Dewhurst!

Nicky Henderson might be better known as a National Hunttrainer but he also likes winning the big staying flat races and he has 2 majorcontenders in Saturdays Betfred Cesarewitch.

SENTRY DUTY and VEILED are his 2 runnersd and although hecant split them I like the look of veiled.

However the great Dermot Weld who has sent out more winnersin Ireland than anyone in Irish Racing History sends over RAINFOREST MAGIC andany horse that can win 2 races in 4 days at the Galway Festival like this onedid must be respected!

PALOMAR is a horse I tried to buy after last yearsCesarewitch with the intention of winning this years race. I couldnt affordthe price but will be backing him each way on Saturday!

Meanwhile Ill be hosting things at York for channel 4 whereits the final meeting of the season at the Knavesmire.

Its been a fantastic year at York at what is one of myfavourite racecourses! William Derby and James Brennan and their team have gotthings sorted and apart from the top class racing everything seems to be suchgood value!

It will not be easy on the Morning Line trying to predictthe winner of the ultra competitive channel 4 races but after we come off air Iwill be looking closely at Jim Goldies LOS NADIS in the 2 mile 2 furlonghandicap.

Los Nadis won by 23 lengths over hurdles last time out and looksset to run a massive race here back on the flat!

And talking of jumpers watch out for CUE CARD who could makehis seasonal debut a Chepstow on Saturday in the novice chase!

Last weekends Prix de larc de Triomphe was amazing in thatDanedream not only won easily but set a new race time as well. That has to beone of the best performances Ive ever seen!

And talking about great performances what about FrankieDettori coming from last to first on Dabirsim in the big 2 year old race. Itwas an incredible ride that gave Frankie his 500^th Group win!

I wonder if Dabirsim will now join Godolphin?
